چکیده

The coalescence of a binary neutron star pair is expected to produce gravitational waves (GW) and electromagnetic radiation, both of which may be detectable with currently available instruments. We describe a search for a predicted r-process optical transient from these mergers, dubbed the “kilonova” (KN), using griz broadband data from the Dark Energy Survey Supernova Program (DES-SN). Some models predict KNe to be redder, shorterlived, and dimmer than supernovae (SNe), but the event rate of KNe is poorly constrained. We simulate KN and SN light curves with the Monte-Carlo simulation code SNANA to optimize selection requirements, determine search efficiency, and predict SN backgrounds. Our analysis of the first two seasons of DES-SN data results in 0 events, and is consistent with our prediction of 1.1±0.2 background events based on simulations of SNe. Maximizing the Detection Probability of Kilonovae Associated with Gravitational Wave Observations

Estimates of the source sky location for gravitational wave signals are likely span areas ranging up to hundreds of square degrees or more, making it very challenging for most telescopes to search for counterpart signals in the electromagnetic spectrum. To boost the chance of successfully observing such counterparts, we have developed an algorithm which optimizes the number of observing fields ...

Formation of Large Structures in the Acceleration Universe with a Hybrid Expansion Law

In the current paper, we have studied the effect of dark energy on for-mation where dark energy exists in the background. For this purpose, we used both WMAP9 and Planck data to study how the radius changes with redshift in these mod-els. We used different data sets to fix the cosmological parameters to obtain a solution for a spherical region under collapse. The mechanism of structure formation f...

The study aimed to estimate the effect of ecological factors such as day and night on catch species composition in fishing landings in the perisan Gulf in May 2016. In this study, were catched about 34937.18 kg marine speceis and identified of 64 groups of species and family including 56 groups of bonyfishes, 6 groups of invertabrate, 2 groups of cartilage fishes. Meanwhile, the Bushehr, Hormoz...

Optimizing baryon acoustic oscillation surveys – I. Testing the concordance ΛCDM cosmology

We optimize the design of future spectroscopic redshift surveys for constraining the dark energy via precision measurements of the baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs), with particular emphasis on the design of the Wide-Field Multi-Object Spectrograph. We develop a model that predicts the number density of possible target galaxies as a function of exposure time and redshift. We use this number c...

The dark energy camera search for an optical counterpart to the first advanced LIGO gravitational wave event GW150914

We report the results of a deep search for an optical counterpart to the gravitational wave (GW) event GW150914, the first trigger from the Advanced LIGO GW detectors. We used the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) to image a 102 deg area, corresponding to 38% of the initial trigger high-probability sky region and to 11% of the revised high-probability region. We observed in the i and z bands at 4–5, 7...
